Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What is the Change Ambassadors Grant?
We believe that the opportunity to create change and see the world from a new perspective should be accessible to everyone. That’s why Travelocity’s Travel for Good(SM) program awards the Change Ambassadors Grant each quarter. This grant subsidizes volunteer vacations through Travelocity’s designated volunteer travel partners.
  2. Who should apply for the grant?
Anyone who meets the age requirements and is interested in volunteer travel is encouraged to apply. We give special consideration to those who have demonstrated long-term contributions through volunteering, and to those who do not have the financial means to take a volunteer vacation on their own.

Unfortunately, we are only able to offer grants to legal residents of the United States of America. Please note, employee grants can be awarded to any Sabre Holdings employee globally, regardless of residency.
  3. Can I apply as a team and bring my spouse, a friend, or a family member along on my volunteer trip?
Yes, you may apply for the grant as an individual or as part of a team. Please note that if you apply as a team, you should submit just one application for the entire group. Just be sure to complete section 4 of the application (Additional Team Members) for each team member.
  4. What is the age minimum?
The minimum age for an applicant is 18, unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. The age restrictions for minors on family teams depend on the chosen trip and the terms and conditions set by the volunteer travel provider. In all cases, a parent or guardian of a minor will be required to sign on behalf of the minor.
  5. What qualifies as a volunteer vacation that will be covered by the grant money?
You may choose to take any of the trips that are operated and sponsored by our Travel for Good volunteer travel partners. To learn more about our partners and access the full archive of trips available, you can click on their individual links at www.travelocity.com/t4g.
  6. How long after receiving my grant do I have to take my volunteer vacation?
All trips must be taken within six months of the notification of approval in order to be covered.
  7. Can I submit a grant application for a trip I’ve already completed, or one that I already have reserved?
No, applications for completed trips or trips reserved outside the travel timeframe provided for the grant will not be considered for funding.
  8. What are the grant application deadlines?
Our grants are awarded quarterly, so applications must be received by the last day of each quarter. The chart below should help you to determine when to submit your application based on your planned travel dates.

  9. If I win the grant, do I have to submit a trip report about my volunteer vacation?
Yes, we request that you submit a report post-trip in the form of a freestyle description or daily travel journal. If possible, you should also include photographs with captions detailing different aspects of your volunteer vacation. You can submit your reports via our Volunteer Stories page, www.travelocity.com/volunteerstories.
  10. Why do I have to submit a trip report?
Trip reports are a valuable source of information for us to monitor and evaluate the success and impact of our Change Ambassador Grant program. Plus, it’s our hope that your photos and stories will inspire more people to try voluntourism.
  11. If I have questions or need help before submitting my application, who can I contact?
If you have any questions, please email us at change.ambassadors@travelocity.com.
  12. What if the voluntourism trip I want to take costs more than the $5,000 covered by the grant?
We will only cover the $5,000 allotted by the grant. Any costs over and above that must be covered on your own.
  13. Will I receive the $5,000 in grant money in pocket, or will it go directly to the volunteer travel provider that is operating the trip that I will be taking?
If we award you the grant, the money goes directly to the volunteer travel partner to pay for your trip, and it goes toward your airfare and other necessary travel-related expenses. No cash will be paid directly to you.
  14. After I submit an application, how will I find out if I’ve won?
Once we select our winners, we will send out an email to all of our applicants to let them know that a winner has been chosen. If you are one of the winners, we will contact you separately.
  15. How long after the application deadline will I find out?
We estimate that you will find out within approximately two months of the deadline.
  16. I applied last quarter, but didn’t win. Can I automatically resubmit the same application again?
Unfortunately, at this time there is not an automated process to resubmit your application, but we do encourage you to re-apply.
