Booking a Hotel Room
- Try to reserve a place to stay in advance. That way, you can shop around for the best rates and, more importantly, be sure you'll have a roof over your head when you get to your destination. Arriving in a place without a reservation is only for the truly spontaneous.
- When you make a hotel reservation, most hotels require you to guarantee your reservation with a credit card, and usually charge a one-night penalty if you fail to arrive without cancelling in advance. To avoid no-show charges, observe the hotel's cancellation policy. When you make your booking through Travelocity.com, you can cancel hotel reservations online, instead of having to call the hotel directly. Simply access the Your Account area (you will need to log in) and click on the Reservations tab to cancel your booking at least 14 days in advance. If you cannot cancel at least 14 days in advance, we recommend that you call the hotel directly to cancel.
- Be aware that during holiday periods, some properties require you to book a minimum number of nights, have tougher cancellation policies, and may charge additional amounts for no-shows. During highly sought-after holiday periods, it is best to make reservations only after making certain that you can use them.
