The tallest hotel and casino on the Vegas Strip replicates New York's most famous landmarks and evokes the Big Apple's sights, sounds, and tastes. The technicolor skyline, one-third the size of the East Coast original, is made up of 12 interconnected buildings. In addition to mock skyscrapers, the hotels's exterior features a 150-foot replica of the Statue of Liberty and a 300-foot-long, 50-foot-wide replica of the Brooklyn Bridge.
Inside, guests can wander through Central Park and buy a paper from a paperboy wearing old-fashioned knickers and a tweed cap. They can wander the streets, past street cafes and steaming manholes. This simulated city provides a wide array of affordable and authentic New York cuisine, including Chinese, Italian, American, and Continental selections. The Park Avenue section features glitzy fashion boutiques. The casino has a backdrop of famous New York landmarks and features blackjack, craps, roulette, baccarat, pai gow poker, and keno. Interspersed with the tables are more than 24,000 slot machines and a race and sports book.
The health spa and fitness center feature state-of-the-art equipment, a massage facility, hot tub, and an outdoor pool. The Coney Island Emporium recreates the aura of the amusement park in the early 1900s and features carnival games, shooting galleries, bumper cars, and a roller coaster that swoops and spills in front of the skyline. Guests will find a variety of New York-style entertainers on the main floor of the property, including the ever popular Times Square Bar with its dueling pianos and packed house. Guests can take in the high-stepping ceilis of Michael Flatley's Lord of the Dance, sing along with the performers at the Motown Cafe, catch a red-hot comedian, or spot street performers as they wander through the park and city streets. For the sports fanatic, ESPN Zone offers up dozens of televisions and great food, not to mention the whole interactive sports arcade upstairs.
Take an extra minute to walk around the Statue of Liberty area. A memorial has been created to honor the fallen firefighters and police officers from 9/11. Visitors to Vegas have left t-shirts and other paraphernalia of their own fire and police departments on the fence surrounding the water. Check-in time is 3pm and check-out time is noon.
